long time update...

I know it has been a while since I updated you on what has been going on. Clover and I ran our normal trials this fall and have been Qualifying about 50 percent of the time, especially in NADAC. We still have a very difficult time with the weave poles. Clover actually hit our 1000 point level at the NADAC Toys for Tots trial at Teamworks.

I have noticed that Clover periodically is limping on her front feet. I have tracked it down to a poor job of removing her dew Claws when she was a puppy. They have grown back and often cause Clover pain. I don't think the are bad enough to have them removed though.

Of course the biggest change in Clovers life has been Ripley. Ripley is now larger than clover and picks on her all the time. I do think that Clover likes it though...
Ripley has made it through begining agility and the puppy class. We have had him evaluated for herding.

AARF Nadac trial October 2008 at Teamworks.

ility trial held at Teamworks this past weekend was a great trial. There weren't a lot of people there because there was an AKC trial in Chapel Hill. I took some pics of the trial and they can be found on my piccassa site http://picasaweb.google.com/crmenn

Clover did OK. We were 1 run short of 50%. Most of the time it was my fault, except in the touch and go where she missed a contact and I took her off the course. we also missed qualifing in regular on sat by less then a second because she had to restart weave poles and I held her on contacts.

Teamworks Nadac trial Sept 13 and 14

This past weekend was the Teamworks NADAC agility trial. It was actually a miserable trial for me because I was still getting over being sick and the hot humid weather almost killed me. I was chief course builder for this trial. I think it affected our results also, I wasn't as quick on my and their were some runs that we usually qualify on that I we didn't because Clover took a wrong turn. I am sure it was because I was slow on the commands.

Below are the results.

update

I know it has been a long time since I checked in. The biggest change has been the raising Ripley. He has really grown and now weighs more than Clover.

This past weekend was the Teamworks USDA trial. It was a 3 day trial but I ran only on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we didn't start until 2:00 because hurricane Hanna moved through bringing mostly rain.

Clover did well. Most of the missed Q's were my fault. I have been sick for the last 2 weeks and actually told I had a slight case of pnumonia last week. I could tell that it was affecting my commands and my speed on the course.

We ran 10 runs this week and qualified 6 times.

Midnight Madness Success!

This past weekend was the Midnight Madness NADAC Trial at Teamworks Dog training. I worked as grounds person. This is a nice trial because it starts around 7:00 and runs into the night. It is usually much cooler and you still have all day to do other things. Friday night was delayed about 1/2 hour because of rain, and I didn't get home until after 2:00 pm.

Clover did a wonderful job! She got 9 Q's out of 12 runs this weekend. On friday she didn't make time on the hoopers run and was over time on the weavers run. Clover still needs to be restarted a couple of times on each weave entry.

below are the results:

On Sunday Clover blew a discrimination when she took the tunnel under the A frame instead of the A-frame. I was proud of her chances run. She did a difficult distance challenge.

Michelle said she watched my weavers run and noticed my arms were moving when Clover didn't do the weaves and were still when she did them. I will have to do some experimenting.

Clover has a new brother...

This past Saturday My wife and I drove to Knoxville Tennessee, about 12 hours of driving, to pick up the new addition to our family. He is a male terv named Ripley.

Ripley

We have had to spend a lot of time puppy proofing the house because he is a holy terror. I will keep you posted on haw things proceed. More photos of Ripley

A long, long time...

I know it has been a very long time since I updated you on what is happening with clover. So here is a quick summary of what has been happening the last 2 months. We haven't had any agility trials, well at least I haven't.

My wife and I took a 3 week trip to Australia. When we were gone, Clover stayed With Michelle at Teamworks for inboard training. She worked with Clover every day, mostly on weave poles. When we were in Australia, Teamworks hosted a USDAA trial and I had registered clover for 3 runs. Michelle ran 1 and Meagan ran 2. Hopefully I will have a link to one of the runs soon. Michelle would have qualified with her in one class but I had her registered at the wrong height so she ran as exhibition.

Clover swam everyday too and has become quite the swimmer. Since we have returned, I have taken her swimming at least once a week.

I have just been so busy that I haven't taken any more agility lessons.

Course of the Week

Now that the weather has warmed up, we are starting to get back into the rythum of running course of the week. Clover does extremely well when we first run, but as she gets tired the weaves are the first to go and once she misses them once her confidence is shot and they go down hill from there.

I have also been working on conditioning Clover at COW by taking her swimming.

Youngsville Agility March 22-23 MarchTrail

The Youngsville agility trial was held this weekend. Clover and I ran 4 runs and we ran well, unfortunately we had to start the weave poles 2 times on each run. since you are only allowed 2 refusals, we didn't qualify for any runs.

Clover is going to do some inboard training with Michelle to see if she can fix the weave problem.

I took some pictures at the trial.

Lance Memorial Canines for the Cure Trial

I know it has been a while since I posted. Here is Clover's results from the Lance Memorial Benefit sponsored by AARF. It was held in Chapel Hill, NC. Clover did well earning 7 Qualifing scores, including 2 regular runs and a weavers run.

We were also quoted in an article about the benefit in the Raleigh N&O

Clover has been doing very well with her contacts. She has been holding her 2 on 2 off. I may have been holding her a little long and costing time, but I am doing it to reinforce the behavior.
